Project Details

The project involved creating a bespoke lighting design for the entrance hall to the new offices in Queen Street Edinburgh. Abrdn wanted an illuminated glass sculptural chandelier to enhance the lobby and the first visitor received when entering the building.

Project Challenges/Delivery

In collaboration with Elin Isaksson (a glass artist) we worked together to develop a stunning featured glass sculpture that not only looking amazing but was functional. In order to achieve this, we integrated Led lighting into the glass. The design consisted of a large polished bronze ceiling plate which was set out with a combination of glass sphere pendants of various sizes and colours. One of the challenges was how to install a fitting of this scale through a suspended ceiling within a tight working environment and within a double-height space.
